OUR STORY

Like any worthwhile qualification, RYA Theory Courses can be demanding. Students often need to feel supported by their instructors and to share their challenges with their peers.

Traditional online courses require a lot of motivation on the part of the student and struggle to provide the sense of connection found in the classroom and the engagement with more face-to-face forms of learning.

“Having attempted online courses ourselves, we recognised that there had to be a better way.”

Having experienced online courses ourselves, we realised that there had to be a better way! Technologies have advanced in leaps and bounds in recent years, yet we couldn’t find anything that really embraced the most up-to-date online teaching methods with that sense of support, sharing and engagement that is so important.

So we're doing something about it...

WHO WE ARE

SeaSkillz was founded in 2020 by Martin Summersgill and Kevin Wakeford with the goal of bringing a new style of online RYA training to the market.

We are sailing enthusiasts ourselves and our vision is to create an online community of students and instructors that makes learning fun. Above all we want to help as many people as possible get out on the water in a safe and confident way.

As we are not purely motivated by profit, we are also interested in talking with marine charities and other not-for-profit organisations about how they could be part of the community. Please use the form below to get in touch.
